The uses are different. Due to its high strength and corrosion resistance, steel pipes are widely used in petroleum and natural gas pipelines, building structure supports, highway bridges, machinery manufacturing and other fields; iron pipes are mostly used in low-pressure and low-precision situations due to their low strength and toughness, such as supplying water. Drainage pipes, electrical conduits, etc.
The production process is different. The production process of steel pipes is relatively complex, including hot-rolled seamless pipes, cold-drawn pipes, precision steel pipes, etc.; the production process of iron pipes is relatively simple, including cast iron and welded iron pipes.
Prices vary. Due to differences in materials and properties, the price of steel pipes is usually higher than that of iron pipes; iron pipes are relatively low-priced due to their simple production process.
Anti-corrosion properties are different. The surface of steel pipes is usually galvanized or other anti-corrosion treatments, so it has good anti-corrosion properties; in contrast, iron pipes have poor anti-corrosion properties and are prone to rust in humid environments.
